Newstead Abbey

The ancestral Home of the Poet Lord Byron, Newstead Abbey is the inspiration for poetry written during his life here. Formerly a medieval priory, Newstead retains much of its monastic structure. Family home to the Byron Family for 300 years, visitors can explore the medieval Cloisters, splendid Victorian rooms, the Great Hall and see a large collection of the personal effects of the poet Lord George Gordon Byron in his apartments.
