Carrickfergus Castle represents over 800 years of military might and has undergone many changes during its long history, from a prison to an armoury. It was besieged in turn by the Scots, Irish, English and French - the Castle seeing action right up to World War II.

Free entry for badge holders

Carrickfergus Castle is one of over 200 attractions around the UK that Blue Peter badge holders can get into for free.

To gain free entry, each child must have a Blue Peter badge, a valid Blue Peter badge ID card and be accompanied by a full paying or concessionary adult. If a paying adult is accompanied by two children with badges and valid badge cards, free entry will be given for both children.

If a disabled badge holder is accompanied by a registered carer, both can gain free entry. Carers must bring supporting documents.
