Last week, Radio Wales broadcast more from the Urdd than ever before and more from Hay than in many years. We also provided comprehensive coverage of the Queen's Baton Relay around Wales. This week is about the station's landmark current affairs moment and commemorations for D-Day, 70 years on.

Media commentator Steve Hewlett delivers the third annual Patrick Hannan Lecture tomorrow evening. Patrick was a former Radio Wales presenter and the face and voice of political reporting in Wales for more than 40 years. Steve's lecture is entitled Live from the Edge of the Union: Broadcasting and Journalism on the Brink.

And there's much to talk about. With Scotland preparing to decide the fate of the Union, Wales preparing for further devolved powers and the UK press facing a commercial and ethical crisis, will the British media ever be the same again? The lecture is live on Radio Wales at 7pm and there will be video clips on the website on Wednesday.

This week also sees major commemorations to mark the 70th anniversary of the D-Day landings. Our man Steffan Messenger is in Normandy to report on events for Radio Wales News. Plus Dewi Griffiths will have a special edition of String of Pearls on Sunday at 9.30am.

St Asaph's royal composer, Paul Mealor, talks about his work, life and faith in All Things Considered on Sunday at 9am.

Narberth's Caroline Harrison is the Radio Wales Artist of the Week with her new song, Like A Picture Tells A Story. Caroline is joined by Michael Jackson, Katy Perry, The Pierces, Dolly Parton on the new Radio Wales Playlist alongside Welsh acts Cold Committee, The Reads and Manic Street Preachers.

This year, we've commissioned a couple of sitcom pilots to be broadcast in our Friday 6.30pm comedy slot. You can hear the first this week. Scott of the Antarctic follows the adventures of a young and excitable Welshman on a trip to the bottom of the world. Have a listen. I'd love to know what you think.

Talking of comedy, Elis James provides his Castaway Commentaries on Radio Wales Sport tonight at 8pm. And swimmer Jazz Carlin is Steffan Garrero’s big guest on Thursday.
