It was a frustrating weekend. We tried really hard and thought we were turning a corner. It looked like all that hard work was about to reap some reward. Then tragically, it alluded us again. Maybe it’s not going to happen. Maybe we’ll never find those two duff notes in Goldfinger that Shirley Bassey told Wynne Evans about last week. After such great press and social media coverage (with thanks to everyone involved in that) I can’t be the only one who went back to listen?

Meanwhile, we lost to New Zealand again. If you haven’t heard it already, Steffan Garrero and Tom Shanklin talking through the last near miss in 2004 is a really good listen - catch it here. Maybe we’ll get that much wanted southern hemisphere scalp against South Africa on Saturday. Radio Wales Sport will have the game live. Morning Call this morning is taking your theories why those near misses against Australia, South Africa and New Zealand keep happening to us.
There is a line-up of musical guests on BBC Radio Wales this week that would make Dame Shirley burst with national pride. Bryn Terfel, Rebecca Evans and Only Men Aloud are with Eleri Sion today. The Cory Band are in with Roy Noble on Sunday morning; and our own Amy Wadge - fresh from her writing success with Ed Sheeran - is with Lynn Bowles Sunday afternoon. Meanwhile, Blackpool’s finest, Alfie Boe, is Beverley Humphrey’s guest on Sunday night at 9.
We’re off to Ewloe Green in Deeside for the Radio Wales Artist of the Week this week. Golden Fable have been long time favourites of both Bethan Elfyn and Adam Walton. The three-piece have released their second album, Ancient Blue. From it, we’re playing Breathe In across the output all this week.
