Soaring temperatures to kick off July?

There were grey skies for most of us on Friday morning thanks to this cold weather front which also caused a lot of low level cloud with coastal mist and fog. The good news is that the front will clear, and through the afternoon it should start to brighten up from the west.

Met Office Forecast Chart Friday 26 June

There’s some fine Friday night sunshine and it’ll be feeling fresher than recent nights. Overnight, much of the country will be dry with temperatures dropping to between 11 and 14 °C.

Saturday will bring plenty of dry weather with a mixture of cloud and some sunshine. There may be showers in places but no more than that. Top temperatures will reach 17 to 21 °C with a light to moderate west to south-westerly breeze.

Saturday will be the better day of the weekend. Sunday will be more unsettled and breezier with a spell of rain. Some low cloud, hill and coastal fog are likely as well, although the weather should improve from the west during the evening. Highs on Sunday will be 16 to 19 °C with fresher south to south-westerly winds.

Next week, there are signs it may start to warm-up with potentially a hot and humid start to July.

Met Office Surface Temperature Forecast Wednesday 1 July

Temperatures could soar into the high twenties, perhaps reaching 30 °C in places on Wednesday and Thursday! However, not all the computer models are in agreement yet; there is uncertainty how long the very warm or hot conditions are likely to last. There is even a small chance that the hot weather may not fully reach the UK.
