Are you thinking about splashing out on a new little number for the office Christmas party? Well, it may be Cyber Monday, but before you start shopping, you should check out tonight’s X-Ray to make sure you don’t feel you’ve been stitched up for your sequins.

Lucy Owen
Since it’s the last programme in this series, the X-Ray team are getting all dressed up, ready for our party. We always love a bargain and we always shop around for the best deals.
So you can imagine, we felt we had to investigate when we came across exactly the same outfits – dress, bag and shoes – being sold for very different prices. We were shocked too when we discovered that although they were being sold by under different brands, all those brands were in fact owned by the same parent company.
Why does one company charge different prices for the same product? Is that fair on us consumers? Well, technically, they’re not doing anything wrong. By charging different prices they're able to use different communications to reach different groups of people in order to maximise their sales.
That means it’s down to us to be savvy shoppers. We’ll have advice for you tonight on how you can make sure you’re not caught out.
So, if, like Rachel and me, you end up in the same outfit at the office Christmas party, at least you’ll make sure you’re the one who got the best deal.
We’re back on air in February, but in the meantime the team will still be here to fight for you. Get in touch if there’s anything you’d like us to investigate. Phone 03703 334334 or email xray@bbc.co.uk. You can follow us on Twitter too @BBCXray.
