Grey Friday and a dry weekend

Forget black Friday - it’s been grey Friday for a good part of Wales today with low cloud. Only in the west and south-west has it been bright with a good deal of sunshine. Pembrey on the Carmarthenshire coast was one of the warmest places in the UK today with a high of 14 Celsius; about 4 degrees above the late November average.

Over the weekend, there’s plenty more dry weather to come. There will be some sunshine and lighter winds, though with the possibility of some low cloud. Watch out for mist and fog patches if you’re travelling, especially on Sunday morning. In the sunshine tomorrow it will feel mild with temperatures rising as high as 13 Celsius, though it will be a little cooler where it stays cloudy.

If you’re in Cardiff for the rugby tomorrow, it will stay dry and the sun should break through with a high of 12 Celsius. See the weekend weather chart.

On Sunday mist and fog patches will slowly lift. Some places will stay grey with low cloud, and the odd spot of drizzle possible (but no more than that), and some places should brighten up with sunshine. Temperatures on Sunday will reach 9 to 11 Celsius with hardly any wind to speak of.

Sunday is the last day of autumn from a meteorological point of view and we're on course for the third warmest autumn since records began in 1910! See the Met Office news blog for details.

Next week there is a change on the way. A cold front will move south-east bringing a little rain followed by clearer, colder weather. High pressure will move in from the Atlantic bringing sunshine and frost.
