More storms hit America

The north east of the United States has been hit by another storm.

It's not as ferocious as hurricane Sandy but the nor'easter as it is known, has brought more misery with heavy rain and gales plus a taste of winter snow.

Parts of New York have had 3 to 5 inches of snow, the biggest early season snow since 1869! This had led to more disruption with power cuts and cancelled flights.

New York, New Jersey and Connecticut have had two record breaking weather events in less than 10 days, but good news much better weather is on the way this weekend in the form of sunshine, lighter winds and higher temperatures.

Some people think that when severe weather affects the states it often reaches Britain a few weeks later.

It is true we can get the tail end of storms including hurricanes carried our way by the jet stream but this is not always the case.

By the time they cross the Atlantic, an individual weather system will have changed and our weather can be completely different.
