Things are warming up as we head into the weekend. Saturday could be the warmest day of the year so far, if temperatures exceed the 16.4°C set in Colwyn Bay in January.

It’s looking like a milder weekend. Saturday will be the brighter day, not always sunny though, with some cloud around. Rain is likely on Sunday, turning brighter and fresher later in the day.

Friday afternoon is largely dry and bright with sunny spells becoming more widespread. It will remain breezy but milder, with most places into double figures at 10-13°C.

Friday night will be largely quiet and dry. There will be some clear spells, but it will cloud over through the night. Remaining breezy, but mild, so frost free.

Saturday starts with some low cloud and mist and with the odd spot of drizzle on high ground further north and west through Snowdonia and the Cambrian Mountains. Otherwise, it will be dry with sunny spells becoming more widespread through the afternoon.

The best of any breaks in the cloud will be to the east of high ground. It’s likely to be warmest here too with temperatures reaching the low and possibly mid teens across Wrexham and Flintshire. Brisk south-westerly winds are bringing in that warmer air, but as it blows over the cold sea there's a risk of coastal fog.

Cloud will thicken Saturday night with some hill fog forming. A front that's been hovering to the north for days will eventually sink southwards on Sunday.

It's a fairly weak front by then, but it'll bring rain Sunday morning and thicker cloud. It will clear southwards Sunday afternoon and turn brighter and fresher. It won’t feel as warm as Saturday at 9-11°C

Further wind and rain will spread eastwards on Monday. It’s turning fine and dry again by Tuesday.

High pressure should dominate to the south for the early part of next week - although it looks like temperatures will return nearer normal.
