The coldest spring since 1962

According to figures from the Met Office this spring in Wales is the coldest since 1962!

It was also drier than average despite May being wetter than normal.

The cold spring weather has taken its toll at Bodnant Garden in Conwy where the Laburnum Arch is late to bloom. It's not been this late flowering for at least 50 years!

However, a change in the month looks set to bring a change in the weather. High pressure from the Azores is heading our way. It will reach us over the weekend and last into next week as well bringing plenty of dry and more settled weather.

Met Office forecast chart

Some cloud is likely so I can't promise wall to wall sunshine across the whole country but some sunny spells are likely. It will gradually become warmer as well although it may not stay dry all of next week.

So after the coldest May since 1996, it looks like we're in for a more promising start to June.
