Another week of soaring temperatures?

There’s a fresher feel to the weather this week which will be a relief to many after the very hot conditions last week. The sunshine will make an appearance but there is rain in the forecast too. There’s no risk of thunder on Monday but there is more of a chance on Tuesday.

Low pressure out in the Atlantic is currently controlling our weather. We have a series of weather fronts associated with that low. This will bring rain through Monday and then showers on Tuesday. There will be some sunshine in between the showers at least, but you will notice the breeze.

We’ve an exciting day for Wales as the Ashes comes to Cardiff on Wednesday. Fortunately, the weather’s playing ball too. It’ll be cloudy but mostly dry with hints of brightness, feeling fresh in the north-westerly winds. The rest of Wales will enjoy some sunshine and showers, with fewer showers compared with Tuesday.

High pressure will regain power though again by the end of the week and that will bring warmer and more settled conditions by the time we get to Friday.

The weekend is looking promising too. So get out there and take some pictures - I’d love to see them! You can send them to dereksdiary@bbc.co.uk. Here’s one sent in by Philip Taylor showing a lightning strike over Menai Bridge.
