It's been a nice week in the old blogosphere. My first discovery was found on the
dontdiewondering blog and comes courtesy of
Silent Portraits. There's not much about Silent Portraits online, but I was able to find out that it's the work of Maxi in Berlin. Her work is delicate, semi improvised, and full of lo-fi hiss and noise. I'm really taken with this and you can download 4 tracks on her bandcamp page.

Next up is the brilliantly named
Oregon Bike Trails. Named after a holiday brochure, the band actually has nothing to do with Oregon, or trails, and isn't actually a band. It is Zach Yudin from Santa Monica, California who, when I asked for some info on him told me "I live a sort of beach/surf/bike lifestyle." I love this guy and I want his life. His music is influenced by bubblegum 60s pop and is rather brilliant. Oh and there are new tracks on the way next month so watch his space.

Here's what I picked from my trawls across the blogosphere this week....
First up was Catwalk who revolved around Nick Hessler from Oxnard, California. The band is all fuzzy, melodic joy and their latest single, One By Words, is coming out as a 7" on Captured Tracks and will, apparently, be super ltd edition. Best get in their fast if you want your copy. The track has been doing the rounds across all the big noisey blogs, but I picked it up from the wonderful Aurora Vibes which is well worth a read.
CATWALK - One By Words
My second choice for TR was this treat from Mutual Benefit. At the moment the band consists of just one person called Jordan, who's only tenets are, 1. Do cool stuff, and 2. Be kind to each other. You can't really argue with either. When he's not making sleepy lo-fi, Jordan can be found running the Kassette Klub label. This track has an ace video for it that consists of images from the June 1973 issue of National Geographic that have somehow been made to move. It's lovely. I picked the track up via the Their Bated Breath blog.

Hi all
As the show's resident bloghound, I'm doing a weekly spot where I'll be unveiling some of the best tunes I've unearthed from my travels around the blogosphere. I'll be sharing them with you here too, so you can pop along and download them for yourselves.
First up is a track that first surfaced in October. It's on the excellent Shelflife Records and is by Soda Shop. I picked this up a while ago, but I was reminded about it when I visited the Musigh Blog. Talking about it to Tom I used the dreaded T word, TWEE. Thinking about it now I'd say it's way more in a motowny, garagey, girl groupy, kind of place, and I really regret not saying that instead. After that it was only right that we took things off on a tangent, so step up Galapagos. Galapagos is Jacob McNaughton from Pheonix Arizona, and he gives away loads of his ace music on his soundcloud page. There's a strong hip hop link to his music, but Jacob makes it all wonky. The tune we played has it's genre listed as wonderbeat which is brilliant.
