Leader Board: Semi-Final

Our five Strictly Semi-Finalists smashed it tonight, giving their all in two fabulous routines each, in their bid to make it to the Strictly 2015 Finals! We’ve seen Jay and Aliona emerge from a TARDIS in a Doctor Who inspired dance (which you can go back in time and watch again without the need of a TARDIS by clicking here), as well as some particularly interesting party-starting choreography from Anita and Gleb! But which four couples will make it through to the Finals and be in with the chance of taking home the coveted Strictly Glitterball Trophy next Saturday night?! To help you decide, here’s a quick recap of the highs and lows of the Leader Board this week!

In top spot are Kellie and Kevin, who performed two cracking routines, scoring the highest marks for both. Their first dance – a Rumba to Eva Cassidy’s ‘Songbird’ – which scored 34 points (joint-highest alongside Jay and Aliona’s Viennese Waltz) was praised highly by all the Judges. Len commented that there was a wobble but “without that, I was struggling to fault it”, and Craig added: “Technically, that was absolutely brilliant… almost perfect!” For their second dance, Kellie and Kevin performed an American Smooth to Nat King Cole’s ‘Let’s Face the Music and Dance’. And that they certainly did! Darcey complemented: “That was heaven!” and Len agreed: “As soon as you walked out and had that look of bewilderment I said to myself: ‘I’m gonna love this!’”. He then said: “Tonight is all about who should get to the Final. 100% if you’re not there, well…” and with the shake of his head, it was clear Len believes there won’t be trouble ahead for Kellie and Kevin this weekend!

Katie and Anton unfortunately found themselves at the opposite end of the Leader Board with a total of 56 points (and bottom scores for both of their dances.) Their first performance – a Charleston to ‘Too Darn Hot’ – proved to be a tad too darn hard for Katie. Len said: “The song was hot; you looked hot; but the dance was not... It wasn’t slick enough; some of the lifts were a bit clumsy; you looked as though you were outside your comfort zone.” Luckily they managed to score a few more points (31 in total) for their second dance: a Waltz to ‘O Mio Babbino Caro’ by Giacomo Puccini, but despite the improvement, they still ended up bottom of the board for the second time tonight. Though Craig complemented: “I really enjoyed it and thought you redeemed yourself. darling”, Len thought it was too wobbly, saying: “It’s breaking my heart to say this and I know it’s breaking yours, but it was just unstable”. Bruno added: “It has to be perfect and it wasn’t my darling”.
