Hoping to be a knockout on the dance floor, it’s Anthony Ogogo!
Best known for winning a bronze medal in the 2012 London Olympics, middleweight boxer Anthony remains undefeated in his professional career.
26-year-old Anthony was born in Lowestoft, Suffolk and was sporty from an early age. Whilst still at school he was invited for a trial with Norwich City Football Club but boxing was his first love. After taking up boxing aged 12, Anthony’s career has gone from strength to strength. As well as his 2012 bronze medal, other highlights include a Junior Olympics gold medal and a silver medal in the 2010 Commonwealth Games.
After his London Olympics medal win Anthony turned pro and is managed by ten-time boxing champion Oscar De La Hoya.

Sports aside, Anthony entered 2008’s Big Brother: Celebrity Hijack on Channel 4, finishing in fourth place. In 2013 he was a contestant on ITV’s Splash and made it to the semi-final before having to withdraw from the competition due to injury.
Anthony says his family “will laugh” when they hear he’s on Strictly, adding: “Dancing and Anthony Ogogo don't really go hand in hand.”
When asked what he’s most looking forward to, he said “Testing my physical and mental capacity and learning something that is totally alien to me. I'm keen to see how I will cope with the routines and the hard training. Sure I train hard but that's in boxing and I'm good at boxing. I'm intrigued to see how I get on with something that I'm not good at.”
Whatever his dancing experience, Anthony is certainly aiming high: “I really would like to get to the final, and when you're in the final, like they say 'anything can happen'.”
