Strictly Leader Board: Week Ten
Another fantastic Strictly live show! Our magnificent seven couples hit the Ballroom with a renewed intention to up their performances and stay in the competition at all costs!
Top of the leader board were Helen and Aljaz whose Viennese Waltz and performance in the Quickstep-a-thon propelled them into premier position. The judges loved Helen and Aljaz’s Viennese Waltz so much that the pair saw their first 10’s of the series – a whopping three of them all at once! As if their joint series record score of 39 wasn’t good enough, Helen and Aljaz went on to win the Quickstep-a-thon bagging a bonus seven points and leaving them with a final score of 46!
Jay and Aliona’s intense Tango to Prince’s When Doves Cry, plus an extra three Quickstep-a-thon marks, left them second on the final leader board with 41. The judges were most impressed with Jay and Aliona’s synchronicity with the music and both Darcey and Bruno awarded the couple 10’s. Georgia and Giovanni saw themselves slip from the top of the leader board to third place this week after their rocking Paso Doble to The Final Countdown received mixed reviews from the judges and scored 33. However, the couple managed to come second in the Quickstep-a-thon which gave them a further six points and an overall score of 39.

Katie and Anton’s Argentine Tango initially left the pair towards the bottom of the leader board with a score of 32, but a good third place in the Quickstep-a-thon saw them climb up to fourth overall with a final score of 37. Whilst Katie and Anton were helped by the Quickstep-a-thon, others were not so lucky. Kellie and Kevin opened the show in style with their daring Salsa to I Want You Back and received a healthy 34 from the judges. Unfortunately they only managed a further two points from the Quickstep-a-thon and dropped down to fifth on the final leader board.
Further down were Anita and Gleb who’s Rumba to Read All About It failed to prove a bestseller with the judges. Head Judge Len criticised an illegal lift in their routine but praised Anita for her impressive characterisation. Fourth place in the Quickstep-a-thon helped Anita and Gleb avoid the bottom of the leader board and they finished the show with a score of 35.
Three points behind Anita and Gleb, and subsequently bottom of the Week Ten leader board were Peter and Janette. Their bakery-themed American Smooth somewhat failed to rise to the occasion and left the judges feeling more sour than sweet with a score of 31. Last place in the Quickstep-a-thon didn’t help matters much and Peter and Janette ended the show with a score of 32.
Let us know which couple you think should be in the dreaded Dance Off, and who you think should make it through to Musical Week.
