Bringing big Branning storylines to our line-up this year is actor Jake Wood. Swapping the Square for Strictly.

Best known for playing Albert Square’s notorious bad boy and womaniser, Max Branning, Jake’s character has been at the centre of a series of big storylines over the past eight years.

Max has had an affair with his son’s girlfriend, been through years of emotional turmoil with wife Tanya, coped with an alcoholic daughter and was devastated by the death of his son Bradley. His current storyline sees him involved with the Lucy Beale murder investigation.

Away from Albert Square, Jake’s real life couldn’t be more different from that of his character. He's a family man with two children and in his spare time, he enjoys rock-climbing, running, cycling and boxing.

Looking ahead to his time on Strictly, Jake said: "I'm really relishing the prospect of hitting the Strictly dance floor this year. I'm doing it for all the dads out there and you never know, there's always a chance of being the first Walford resident to take home the glitterball... Bring it on!"
