Musical Week: Leader Board
Tonight, in a Strictly musical extravaganza, our six Quarter-Finalists battled it out in the Ballroom to try and make it through to the Semi Finals, but as always, one couple must go... Who do you think it’ll be? Here’s a quick recap of the highs and lows of tonight’s Leader Board to help you decide…
Sat firmly at the top are Jay and Aliona with a total score of 39 – just one point off the first 40 of the series! The Judge’s fell in love with their romantic Rumba to the musical Once, and we sure could have watched it more than once too! But Len predicted that won’t be the case suggesting they don’t need to worry about being in the Dance Off. Craig went one further, even giving them advice for the Final! Darcey loved it too: “You brought tears to my eyes”, she said, congratulating Jay on conquering his embarrassment and bringing out his emotions. Hoorah!
In joint second place – both with a total score of 36 points made up of all 9s - were Georgia and Giovanni and Kellie and Kevin. Georgia and Giovanni danced a beauty-ful fairytale Foxtrot to Tale as Old as Time from Beauty and the Beast, and Georgia was the Belle of the Ballroom. Craig said it was “delightful and enchanting” and Georgia was overblown with emotion. Kellie and Kevin’s near Oom-Pah-Pah-fect Viennese Waltz (with an Oliver Twist) was dubbed “divine” by Darcey, and congratulated by Craig – eventually! In a somewhat scary moment for Kellie and Kevin, he said: “That’s the first time I’ve seen a Viennese Waltz that was not elegant, had no class or grace and was common as, but you know what… I LOVED IT!”

One dance that the Judges weren’t so keen on, however, was Anita and Gleb’s Argentine Tango to Chicago’s Cell Block Tango, which left them at the bottom of the Leader Board with a total of 31 points. Although Craig only scored them 6 points, however, Len awarded them an impressive 9 saying he thought they did it “spectacularly well” (after comparing their routine to “cowpat on Countryfile: hot and steamy!”). And if anything, that it was! (Gleb certainly managed to arrest our attention in that prison guard costume, anyway!)
Another couple that didn’t do so well were Helen and Aljaz, who found themselves in second last place with a total score of 34 points. But despite a few negative comments, Len said “you were living that. I loved it” and complemented them that it was “a fitting end to a great week”. And a great show it was!
