Anthony Ogogo leaves Strictly

Professional Boxer Anthony Ogogo is the second contestant to leave Strictly Come Dancing 2015.

This weekend Strictly Come Dancing went from Borehamwood to Hollywood, with Anthony and his Pro partner Oti dancing a Rocky 3-themed Paso Doble to ‘Eye of the Tiger.’

Bringing the boxing ring to the ballroom, Anthony and Oti’s dramatic dance certainly seemed to pack a punch. Darcey described it as his “best dance so far” thanks to Anthony’s “energy, attack and athleticism,” while Len said he loved how Anthony goes for it “full on… no holding back.”

Speaking to Claudia after performing, Anthony said: “I know technically it wasn’t brilliant, but I’m not technically brilliant.” Sadly, Craig and Bruno agreed. Craig thought it lacked shaping, and that his hands were flat and “spatulistic”…is that a word?! Bruno thought the dance lacked “artistry” and that it was “all over the place.”

Anthony was given an opportunity to inject more artistry into his Paso Doble when he and Oti fought for their place in the competition in the dance off against Ainsley and Natalie, whose Cha Cha earned 20 points – just one more than Anthony and Oti.

After both couples performed their routines for a second time, Anthony failed to hook the judges in, who reached a unanimous decision to save Ainsley and Natalie.

After taking to the dance floor for the final time, Anthony was full of nothing but praise for his dance partner Oti: “It has been brilliant. I want to thank Oti, she has been amazing. I feel sorry for her because she got lumbered with me, I can’t dance and I’ve got a poorly little shoulder. She’s done a wonderful job with me so thank you.”

Oti mirrored Anthony’s sentiment, adding: “I’m so proud of him. He has been the best and I think besides being a dance partner, he has been a really, really good friend.”
