Alex and Holly leave Strictly Come Dancing

Comiserations on your semi final exits Alex and Holly.



It was a shame that Alex had to leave but it was only fair as she was the weakest of the 5 semi finalists although I felt Craig had it in for her because that Waltz was worth an 8 at worst. That 7 was a disgrace although I felt the score for the Salsa was about right.



As for Holly, I felt it was going to be a toss up between her and Jason as to who would join Harry and Chelsee on the bus to Blackpool and I feel that the main reason Holly missed out was because she had a lack of public support which became more and more apparent in the way the public voted and also some of the comments on the different blogs about her. Might she have gone further if Artem had taken the safety first approach and sat out Wembley and maybe the following week so Brendan could dance with her? Possibly because their was an obvious connection with them which was evident in their rumba and maybe people would have warmed to Holly more.

I was devastated when Holly had to leave, personally she was my favourite. And Alex was just an amazing person, and I know I am going to miss them both in the last Strictly Come Dancing! Good luck to the finalists Harry, Chelsee and Jason though!

Well done Alex and Holly, you did great to get to semifinals, but I feel the correct 3 are in the final...especially Harry...

So sorry to see Alex and James leave this week. Alex should be so proud of her achievement, she has been so modest but a real star!! Well done James for bringing out the best in her. Artem's should have played it safe with his Charlston! Love your moves, but you got it wrong this time!

pasopeter. Sorry dont agree with that, what about their Paso last week and their AT this week complete connection. She was not the favourite with Len especially, hence continually undermarked and the GP slightly jelous of her ?? Brendon would have made no difference !!!!

Yes i have no complaints about the final 3 it was very close between Holly & Jason but we will see a great final next Saturday.

I think that on the night, the right 3 went through. Alex and Holly were amazing, but Jason was just better on the night.

@5 Rubbish! She wasn't undermarked. The GP didn't warm to her because she came across as laid back and uninterested not because of jealousy, and to be honest she and Artem seem to hate each other. They never gelled at all, it was very obvious on ITT. Her dances this week were boring and badly danced. It was definitely the right decision for her to go out.

Well done Holly & Artem, I thought you were brilliant every single week and should hold your heads up high as you were amazing,you're winners in my eyes, love you guys so much!

The right three went through. Holly and Alex are beautiful ladies who deservedly reached the semi-finals, but they are just not as good as Harry, Chelsee and (on a good day ) Jason. What upset me the most was the insult the BBC offered to the Soldiers Wives. Let's please just have a camera on the artistes and leave the dancing out for a minute. As there was almost no coverage of the Soldiers Wives at all, they might as well have just used a record!

The right 3 went through to the Final.Knew that Alex was one of the ones going home. the other was a toss between Holly and JAson. But The better of the two stayed.

Hi aimeeaimee1000. I personally agree with your analysis on last weeks Paso Doble and to a certain extent on the Argentine Tango although I felt the use of the stools did detract slightly. Having said that in view of some of the comments her Argentine Tango attracted I was suprised there was no 10.



I wasn't saying that Brendan would definetely have made a difference but there was a real connection during their rumba and even though it was Artems choreography I am sure you will admit it is easier to do something with a friend than with someone who by his own admission was a bit of a taskmaster - pushing his partner but not giving the praise.



What way do you think the public were jealous of her? I agree she had a lack of public support but it seemed to coincide with Artems "Will I? won't I?" when it came to dancing at Wembley which I felt was unfortunate because the injury was genuine. Having had a similar injury myself to Artem it would have been more advisable for him to have made the decision earlier and rested an extra week a) to give the injury it's proper healing time as such an injury heals in 3s. If it's not gone in 3 days you will have it for at least 3 weeks and if not 3 weeks you are talking 3 months and b) It would have given Holly a better chance of performing that Wembley quickstep to the best of her ability having practised all week with Brendan.

Who is and who is not voted off the show is of little interest to me but I have become increasing concerned during recent shows that performers of very considerable talent are invited to sing while, at the same time, very competant dancers receive raptuous applause from a manic audience. Tonight it went too far and the applause from them totally ruined another magnificant performance by the Wives Military Choir. It was, frankly, a dreadful decision by the producers of this programme to have two dancers upstaging the sensitve performance of the wives; it was an insult to them. My heart goes out to the wives for a wasted journey from the West Country.

It was such a shame to see both couples go. I really feel that Holly should of stayed in and Jason should of have left. Alex was doing so well and getting better and better every week. She was always fun to watch. Going to miss them both.

Does any but me think they are using canned whoops and cheers? The Military Wives are not the only guests that have been disrespected this season by the hollering audience and as for Dave Arch he must be at the end of his tether. Please lets hope someone somewhere listens to the audience for a change PLEASE!

All the while you have incompetent judges, the likes of the graceful Holly & Artem will not get to the final. just look at the marking, all of the judges said Holly's A T was superb, no mistakes best in the comp, but only got 4x9s. all judges remarked on Chelsee's mistakes yet gets 4x10s. Jason stood like a tailors dummy while Christina gyrated sexily around him & gets 4x10s. should have been 10 for Christina & 2 for Jason. A total travesty.

I would like to add my total agreement with comment 10, I think it was really bad that all the time the ladies where singing all you could hear was the audience clapping and cheering at the dancers yes they are very good but I don`t feel it was neccessary for them to be dancing through the singing totally ruined it

It is sad that Alex and Holly had to go but the final three all deserved their place at the final, they have given us all entertaining and unforgettable dances. I can't wait for the final next week and I am really excited about it taking place in Blackpool.

Good result but appalled by the audiences whooping and clapping during the performance by the choir. nothing against Vincent and Flavia but just for once let the performance stand up on it's own. Really spoilt the performance for me.

I'm so, so gutted that Holly and Artem didn't get to the final. They have been SUPERB all series and their Argentine Tango was amazing.

I think the Charleston lost it for them.

Holly should be really proud of what she achieved. She has been amazing and showed real dignity and strength of character is coming back after being in the bottom two. She won me over and everyone I know thinks she is a wonderful person. Well done Holly!

You may not win the Glitterball, but you eventually won the hearts of the British Public! Well done!

Suggestions for the next series of Strictly? Would love to see Karen Hardy and Ian Waite on the judging panel. Bring back Matthew Cutler. He could give his expert views on the midweek training sessions.

I'm only sorry that we couldn't hear the Soldiers' wives song better. As much as I love watching the professional dancers when an Artist is singing the BBC have on other occasions just had Artists performing alone and I think this should have been one of those occasions. It was hard to hear the song over the clapping and cheering for Vincent and Flavia's dance.



Harry and Chelsea - you've got my votes - you both deserve to be in the Final !!!!!!!!!! Good luck and I'm looking forward to the Showdance

Its been a pleasure to watch u.



Knew people were gonna comment about Chelsee's turn on the paso. A second turn is a common feature in the paso, it is where you mimic the matador's moves...Ie Conducting a spin after him or you shape his hand mimics after his. Also the female is half the time supposed to be the opposite to the male.

I have danced the paso and technically all the technique and steps for a perfect dance was in Chelsee's and Pasha's Paso. There were traveling spins, shashas, promenade positions, surflex, spot turns, sway, arm styling and shaping flamencos, staccato movements, promenade flicks. Her walks were perfect, her feet closed correctly on the positional changes. People need to research the dances first before they can comment on incorrect technique and marks. Chelsee had a complex dance with complex steps hence the 40.



Ps Many shows have I seen costume changes go wrong but if the dancers carry on this does not affect the overall score. As Chelsee had her skirt caught she could have made many errors but she continued.



You cant please everyone anyway!!

The most obvious three make it to the final and I've no qualms about that. Alex and Holly have done tremendously well to get to the semi-final and should be proud of their achievements. Looking forward to the final next week - should be a cracker!

Anyone else tired of Sir Bruce wasting time with inane jokes &/or forgetting to get the views of ALL the judges. He did it AGAIN in the semi finals, only Len commented on Harry's first dance, and on at least one other occasion not all the judges were asked for comments. This has happened regularly throughout this series. I for one want to hear comments from all the judges.

I just loved your outstanding choreographed routines everyweek .

Will we be seeing you both dance again sometime soon? hope so.

Jason just pipped it with the public with his AT.

His samba was not good enough for a semi final ( Just my opinion)

Chelsee and Harry did well . Although Chelsee's Paso was a 9 from me.

She didnt hold when she finished her routine and was out of hold too quickly which spoilt the whole Paso performance which she danced magnificently.

Alex, you were tremendous, and James was correct to say you were the most improved celebrity this series. My perception of you has totally changed from the One Show!

And Strictly goes from strength to strength, with 12.5 million viewers on Saturday, aged from 2 to 102, and very many, including children, enjoying the VT's on this family light-entertainment phenomenon! Just as Brucie is a phenomen amongst presenters, and will be around, hopefully, for many years to come!

Enjoy it all, as I do; the fake tans, the frocks, the marvellous musicians and singers, the Grant, Len's Lens, Claudia, the magnificent professional dancers, the game celebrities, the OTT judges.......the best entertainment on the box!

Strictly The Best!

Absolutely the right three couples through to the final.

It's too close to call between Harry and Chelsee, but who knows what'll happen on the night? A minor mistake or a gobsmacking show dance could be the clincher - but I hope the show dances are dances, and not just a series of lifts. The acrobatic guests on tonight's show just left me cold I'm afraid.



I didn't know Alex when the series started, but I've ended up with a lot of respect for her hard work and self effacing nature, and I think perhaps Holly was a bit overhyped from the start, but neither of them have anything to be ashamed of and have provided us with some fantastic entertainment.



I haven't been Jason's biggest fan throughout the series, but that Argentine Tango had the hairs standing up on the back of my neck last night, and I've watched it over and over on the iPlayer - definitely a standout dance for him and for the series.



Looking forward to the final and hope that next series will have a new presenter and a producer than doesn't think they're up for a Best Comedy Short Film Director - those vts are pathetic.



And finally - if you're lucky enough to get a ticket to Strictly next year, how about doing us all a favour and saving the whooping and clapping till the end of the performance - whether it be a dance or a guest singer.

I agree with Andrew, coment 31. Yes let us get rid of the judges with the exception of Craig who is a very fair judge and does not have any favourties. Let us have Karen Hardy & Ian Waite. Keep Len has Head Judge though. Also get rid of Claudia and Tess, and get rid of the VT's - they are only like adverts to make up time.

Why must the results show guest spots always feature dancing? It was an insult that the marvellous Military Wives Choir was kept in the background – visually and in the sound mix – while the studio audience applauded Vincent and Flavia's dance moves.

I do agree that two of the three finalists were as expected and that the third was a toss up between Holly & Jason. I knew Alex would go out as she was the weaker of the five, but I do wonder if steps were taken to ensure that the voting public did not get Alex through as I had terrible difficulty voting - I repeatedly got "Call Failed" on my phone!



I was also incensed at the way the Military Wives choir were drowned out by the extremely inconsiderate audience cheering and applauding the dancers during the performance. I felt so sorry for them striving to sing their lovely song, it must have been a nerve-wracking experience for them without being drowned out by all that noise and distraction.



So sad to see the lovely Holly go though - she was a wonder to watch! Thank you.

I agree totally with the other comments regarding the upstaging of the Military Wives Choir. I love Vincent and Flavia, but the audience reaction was totally over the top and insulting to the choir, particularly as they were singing live. Bad show, BBC producers / floor managers!

In my opinion, the three best couples are through to the final.

Jason's tango earned him the place in the final. Maybe it was not technically perfect, but sensuous and utterly passionate. Did you notice Christina's face? She was só into the dance.

But Harry remains my favorite for the title. He clearly enjoys dancing, his posture and sense of rhythm is perfect. And besides that, he is a nice guy.

Why, why, cannot I like Chelsee? In my view, she acts the part of the little simple, common girl and that irritates me every week. Very good dancer, though.

Holly's been robbed! Why did the judges praise Holly and Artem so highly and then award them only 9s on their first dance Saturday night? Holly has been consistently strong throughout the series and she gave a flawless performance in the opening dance. Why deny her those precious 4 points that they so truly deserve. Did they not want to see Artem win again? He's an incredible choreographer. And Jason, though good, the whoops from the audience were for Christina's amazing moves. It was her ability, not Jason's that really made the crowd go wow! The final should have been: Holly, Chelsee and Harry.

Totally agree with the comments on re the Military Wives - shame on you BBC for spoiling the song with dancers and not letting the amazing performance speak for itself.



Also, next year can we have the pro dancers billed on the titles as well as the celebs; they are more important than the 'stars' and deserve the recognition more; plus some people watch it for the pros rather than the stars.

I so agree with Geoff's comments - Christina's AT was great, but Jason was just spinning round - hey ho! I was also sad that the audience were not more respectful to the Wives Choir!

Personally I thought Holly was worthy of a place in the final. I didn't thik Jason's Argentine Tango was a 40.



Anyway IMO the BBC have the final 3 they have always wanted and whats to say they would have made the final regardless of the public vote. We will never know how many votes each couple got as the BBC will not publish the results.



Come on BBC lets see how many votes each couple attracted and how that panned out when added to the judges scores. Or is this another Blue Peter type cover up?

From the start I predicted Harry, Chelsee, Jason, Holly, where the best dancers. The most improved was Alexs these five have deserved their places,

As a Jason and Holly fan I have to come on here and defend Jason especially after some of the comments above.



I have supported these two couples throughout voting for them every week watching their progress ups and downs.



Every couple on Saturday did their best if they have got through to the final then we should congratulate them not slate them.



For me Jason and Kristina danced the dance of their lives to get through to the final. It was one of the best dances I have seen on Strictly. It was Jason and Kristina's final something they can be proud of.

Holly is a good friend of Jason and she would be glad that he has reached the final. Just give him a break, we have three good dancers who will dance to the best of their ability for us in the final.

There's nothing I can do now to get Hartem to Blackpool but at least I can say I tried by voting for them every week since Strictly began.

I think Alex would have got through if James had behaved himself - he was out of control on Saturday!

I was having similar problems voting for Jason, so not just Alex.



Until Jason did his AT i thought it would be struggle between him, Holly and Alex. But i knew he would get through (or felt he should) once i'd seen the others final dances.



Alex was the most improved, but she has only done one or two dances that have captivated me.

Holly and Artem were enjoyable every week. Some weeks stronger than others but consistantly good, with some amazing choreography. I don't know what Artem is going to do with Nancy on the tour.

Jason was great to start off with, then got to tied up in techniques and forgot to enjoy his self, then the last two weeks made a couple of major errors. For me he was the right one to go through on the night, because even his worse dance was better than Alex, and matched Holly. In my opinion.

I agree with some of the comments about Jason. He often makes mistakes whereas until this week Holly doesn't yet he always gets great scores. I think Christina was amazing but his role in was rather lacking. HE didn't deserve a ten !

Was it just me or were the scores all over the place this week? I thought that Chelsee did a (relatively) poor AT, it was littered with mistakes, rushing moves, even stumbling right at the beginning, but she got 40. Jason had mistakes in his AT, and yet he got 40. Then Holly did a near faultless Charleston and got 34, was it because it was too modern? I felt that the judges wanted their favourites to go through and were determined to ensure that they had as much help as possible. And as for the audience, put a sock in it! It just sounds awful, and don't start me on the VTs or Bruce!!!!

I didn't really mind who went through this week as I think they were all superb. I do like fair play however & must comment on the judges marking of Holly's & then Jason's Argentine Tangoes. I enjoyed both & as I am not a dancer I can only voice an objective opinion, but it seemed to me that entertaining as Jason's was, Kristina was doing all the work. Holly seemed to just do more & it was a fantastic dance. For the first time ever I feel the judges were manipulating the scores. A shame as I do love Artem's choreography.

Thanks for the insight into Chelseas Paso, i knew it was good and complicated, but did not know why. I did enjoy Holly and Artems more, but so did they.

Regarding the numerous complaints about the noisy audiences.



I read an article (poss. Daily Mail), which said the BBC had only received 30 complaints out of 11 million viewers so were unconcerned.



Therefore, i have lodged my complaint on line on the BBC website. If we all do that then maybe they will listen and show the respect that is due the artists. I was particularly annoyed as the Army Wives are not profesionals and must have been disheartened to be shout down in such a manner.

So glad I'm not the only one who feels the Army Wives should have been shown more respect. I got the feeling that Vincent and Flavia were uncomfortable with all the totally unncessary screaming at their performance. I certainly was.

So with you, Nuttynora. I don't for one moment believe that we are now at 31 complaints. If the BBC would just take the trouble to read their own message boards they would realise (but would they care) that virtually nobody likes the noise.

I also had difficulty calling in to vote for Alex & James. Call failed messages just about put me off by I persisted but still they failed to get enough votes.

It does make you think when this happens, not for the first time.

i think on the night the right 3 went through, even though everyone in the semi final had made great progress throughout the show, the 3 best dancers were put through to the final. i think it's going to be a great final show!

I'm in total agreement with the comments above about the disgusting audience noise during the Military Wives' performance which showed a complete lack of respect, and also the inane VTs which are ridiculous and cut into essential rehearsal time.

Please keep Craig and Len next year and have two other judges who actually know what they're talking about. Alesha is pointless and Bruno is so over the top - they don't add to anything at all. And as for Bruce....!!!

Bruce is wonderful - leave him alone - would rather lose Tess. Re the previous comments re forgetting to ask for a judges comments - think you will find that is the voice in his ear telling him to move on as a previous judge said to much and they ran out of time. With regards the Military Wives performance - agree with everying that has been said. Please take 5 mins to complain and maybe - just maybe - SCD will get the messase that in a recorded show we should have the right to listen to a performance - or ditch the dancers for these performances. Wonderful show and I think the right celebs won through. Shame about all the 'American' style cheering while the Military Wives were singing. We're getting more like Dancing With The Stars where nothing can be heard but the audience screaming and whistling

Sorry girliesx4, but Bruce should be "let go"! It's embarrassing to see him make so many mistakes, and then encourage the audience to whoop etc. His lame jokes are not funny now, and never were even when I was growing up in the 60's! We record SCD and then start watching 10 minutes later, then we can whizz through his bits (and the VTs) and by the end we've almost caught up. I wish I could whizz through Alesha's comments too, condescending or what? "I commend you though..." "good effort..." urgh!

I'm just wondering what all these people mindlessly copying and pasting the VT 'petition' think should replace them? They're clearly there so that everyone has time to get ready for the next dance - if it wasn't VTs, it would be some other filler.

Get rid of Aleisha as a judge. She does not know what she is talking about most of the time because she is not a professional dancer. She gave Chelsee a 10 for a dance in which she made mistakes, but gave another celebrity dancer a lower mark for an absolutely brilliant performance without mistakes.



I was sorry to see Holly and Alex go. They both did extremely well and Alex was the best improver, but I agree that the bets three couples got through. Much as I like Alex I knew it was going to be a choice between Holly and Jason.



Why change the voting system for the final. Three quarters of the judges are professional dancers and know what they are talking about, whereas the general public will mostly vote for the dance they like the most, even if it is technically incorrect, or worse still just for their favourite personality.





What is a VT for goodness sake? Video Take?

what a great show it was Saturday, everyone was realy good, I did think Holly and Artem and Alex and james would leave the show on Sunday, the others were just better dancers than the ones that left, I have enjoyed Holly and Alexs dancing on s.c.d, just a shame they miss out dancing at Blackpool, but hey they have learnt a new skill, one which they would not have learnt had they not participated in s.c.d, I congratulate them both on getting so far in the competition, poor Artem, he did win last year and won the most proffesionals dance challenge, so he at least come away with something from this series of s.c.d, looking farward to the final and this weeks i.t.t and seeing Artem and Holly and Alex and James on i.t.t tonight, have a good week everyone

This year's SCD has been constantly marred by:-



1. The silly videos, instead of proper 'in training' footage.



2. The sometimes erratic camerawork.



3. The awful clapping along during the dances. It would be nice to hear the music without this continuous irritation. Any musician knows that you never have equal stresses on every beat of the bar. This sort of thing absolutely ruins the excellent playing by the band.



4. The inane whooping and hollering from the audience, the worst example being during the singing by the Military Wives Choir. This audience racket was the height of rudeness and insensitivity. The people of the floor management team who encourage this are an absolute disgrace.



I hope that, next series, the new producer takes note of the many complaints on these boards. Bring back some style and dignity to SCD.

Unless audience involvement noise can be screened out during guest performances we should not have professional dancers accompanying them.



This has always annoyed me as it drowns out the guest performers marring our enjoyment at home. I dread to think the effect it has on the performers themselves. So it is unsurprising so many bring along their own dancers these days.



The biggest shame it Flavia & Vincent did a beautiful dance to support the Military Wives, but the audience cheering spoiled both performances.

It is a great pity that these blogs seem to be completely ignored by the production team of SCD.



Whilst the (probably) 3 best dancers got through to the final (although IMHO Chelseeeeeeeeeeeee was overmarked, and Holly was undermarked a tad) the show is changing, and NOT for the better.



In common with most other posters on these blogs please, PLEASE :



1. Please get rid of props - we want to see the couples dance not waste a bit of time because they're not so good.

2. For goodness' sake DON'T go back to Wembley......

3. Who on earth thought those little VY vignettes were funny ? Ugh ! They are truly gruesome and embarassing - stop them now and actually show the couples in training - just like you used to.

4. The correographed whooping and hollering that has crept in - nothing more needs to be said. This isn't X - Factor and I would actually have liked to see and listen to the Military Wives.

5. Show dances - a plea. Can we see some dancing and not endless lifts ?

6. Finally - I've often wondered - who chooses the music for each dance, and also who does what dance every week ? Anybody know ?



Someone needs to decide what type of programme SCD is : an entertainment show with the comedy turn dancers thrown in (and we all know who they have been), or a dance competition.



IMHO it works best as a dance competition that just happens to be hugely entertaining : lose the recent gimmicks and get the show back to what it was. Oh - and what WAS that act - part of an acrobat troupe escaped from the circus or a dance couple ?



This is probably the last series I will watch so over to you BBC.....

The 3 finalists deserve to be so. But thank you Alex and James for the sheer fun and joie de vivre you brought to the show.

I'm very pleased with this result---it's the one that I predicted 5 shows back, MY winner all along, has been Harry. A Very close Chelsea--second. Question--what has happend to KATYA? have I missed her in the pro group dances ?

I agree with the comments about the soldiers wives, the audience was out of order with their shouting and clapping, in fact we often get annoyed when the artists perform, even though the dances are lovely, we do not need them for that section of the show. so please bbc get a grip, keep the raz mataz out, or inform the audience that viewers at home would like to hear the performance of the artists.

Can someone please explain how a judge who is suposed to be impartial can be seen quite clearly on her feet applauding after one of the contestents finished their routine.

Impartial how can you mark Holly 9s with no mistakes and full of praise from all judges and full 10s when another has mistakes said by all judges.

@ Foxy Len - Even more surprising that a well respected AT teacher thought there was only about 15 seconds of proper AT throughout J&K's dance ;-)

Why would anyone think Alesha was impartial? She has been completely obvious about her passion for Harry from day one.

It is not the audience to blame for the whooping and screeching. As anyone who has been on the live show will tell you, the floor managers are there telling people when to scream and shout and exhorting them to give standing ovations to everyone and their cat. Of course on a live show audience participation can add to the atmosphere, but this should be kept to the end of each performance, standing ovations should be the absolute exception and not the norm and, above all, Bruce should turn off the automatic recording of 'look at them all standing up' which we have all heard a thousand times already. Does nobody at the BBC remember that they are meant to be a broacasting company, not a live promoter?

Would love to know why both my previous posts were not allowed? Is it because i am the only one who does not like Chelsee above the others? I do not remember saying anything controversial apart from favouring Jason & Harry, so Moderators - some sort of explanation please? Even if it is only 'leave our fav alone'.

I think the BBC are being dishonest by not revealing the viewers phone result. Also it should be conducted by an outside agency who has no favourites. This years SCD leaves a bitter taste.

Strictly has to be the best thing about Saturday night, will miss it. Thought the partnership between Holly and Artem was very strained, think I must be the only one that didn't think Holly is a laid back aussie, very uptight, no natural flow to her dancing, always gave me the impression she was too good for strictly.

Alex on the hand was brilliant, eager to learn total trust in James, she constantly improved, Jason on the hand, gave the tango his all, because he thought it was his last dance. Jason should have gone and Alex really should have stayed.

They have all been brilliant but the final 3 just have the edge over Alex & Holly - a fair result. Isn't it time Len retired? he's bcoming a bit rude with his comments this series.

so sorry to see Holly go on saturday just as she was "letting herself go"sad to say it but i thought she was the better dancer over Jason, who i do like ish,
