Week 8 - Wembley Results show - 20 November

Wow, second night running that there have been no posts when I've arrived.



Hope Russell goes out tonight, as otherwise it would put out a better dancer.

Congratulations to Alex and James for being top of the leader board.

Congratulations to all the dancers for putting on a great show even though Wembley was too big you all did a tremendous job of entertaining us.



I await the result show tonight wondering who will leave and hoping that Holly and Artem stay and have another chance to show us what Holly can really do as I know she can dance, she has had a real mix up with changing partners.



I can't get on to Christina and Jason's blog as it's not up on site yet, where has it gone?

Jason did far better than last week and he looked like he had a great time, thank goodness he is enjoying himself again, hope he is not going home tonight.

Harry, Chelsee, and Anita all did so well, Robbie is always good fun and Russell has been hilarious but if a good dancer goes out tonight, I think Russell will feel it was good while it lasted, we might get a bit fed up. I know I will if Holly or Jason go. Thanks for a great night but Strictly was better at Blackpool than Wembley.

I thought the show last night was fabulous - it was just like watching the Live Tour except with more tricks and glamour. Yes I know it was big but it is a completely different ball gall than television centre! It was something different and amazing to watch! Well done to everyone who pulled off a great show!

Without Russell The Grant will not be worth watching

Does anyone else out there think Bruno should curtail his comments, I am beginning to find all his innuendos both annoying and unsuitable - this is an early evening show and he should think before he speaks. Actually it would have been better to have Alisha replace him instead of Arlene.!!

Russell seriously needs to go- he is relying on gimmicks to go through each week. He has needed to go since Nancy left- he is getting the sympathy vote and the entertainment vote. If he dont go a good dancer will- bad times!!!!!

Wembley did disappoint. My dad says that if they had put balloons up at the ceiling it would have helped with the sound problems.

I don't think Jason was overmarked last night. Watched it back on youtube and the mistake only occurred in the last segment and he recovered well from it. I think we can all agree that the venue did the dancers no favours whatsoever, far to much space to cover, no intimacy and bizarre costume choices. I'm not sure if a floppy suit is the best attire to embrace the jive. Anyway, on with the show!

Oh dear, they are at it again! Sorry, it just looks chaotic with everyone running around, celebrities pretending to be Beatles, and being unable to hear anything except the crowd cheering. For once, I wish they would just cut to the chase and tell us who is going.....AND STOP PRETENDING IT'S LIVE!!!!

Alex was top of the leaderboard Neil. But the other 2 - well that means Russell up against someone decent. Personally Holly is off. My issue with her being unable to bend her knees was never more prominent than in the opening dance where they showed her all straight legged and awkward then show Chelsee all full of bounce and energy.

Based on who is left, I think that Holly must be the other one in the bottom two - big surprise, but that dodgy mid-table position again. Surely Russell to go though (great fun, but time to move on now methinks).

So disappointed with the pro dances at the start of both shows. Totally frenzied and random. Please just let them dance!!! I think Alex was totally overmarked. Chelsee and Harry were both fab. Holly just seems personaility less and could be in danger. If Russell survives there will be a huge backlash!!

Arghh... the echo is driving me crazy. So bad for TV viewing.

Oh dear Did we have to see Christina's trully awful jive dress again? Yuk! Well pleased for Anita. Love Russell but perhaps it's time he moved on to another galaxy.

Holly in the bottom two - it's nothing to do with Artem's injury. She's a reasonable dancer but is as dull as dish water.

I wish the BBC wouldn't try to make out the show is actually on tonight rather than recorded last night, its so stupid. Did anyone else feel disappointed with the Wembley show? I thought the venue too big and lost a lot of atmosphere, I didn't like some of the camera work, when the camera panned out you couldn't actually see any dancing just that too large stage.

I thought that might happen, I love Artem but to me he just does not seem 100% happy or comfortable with Holly and strange as this may sound, I think her and Brendan will really well suited, hope they don't go out though. I must have my weekly dose of Artem (fans oneself quickly).

I do think Brendan has a bigger following than Artem. But for me it is the right choice.

I love Il Divo. There should be dancers though. It's perfect for it.

The problem with Artem is that he is just so grumpy dancing with Holly.

Russell and Flavia out - we'll miss them a lot but it is the fairest result.

Russell out this week, then it gets really tough to call, Holly in the bottom two ...mad and nothing to do with dancing. Next week Anita ? Russell just went..phew !!

Well not altogethr unexpected was it, I adore him but there was far too much faffing at the beginning of his dances and they went downhill. However, I have to question why the professional dancer lets him waste so much time at the beginning of the dances. Flavia is lovely, but must take some of the blame too. Russell as always, ever a gent and apparently guys is being headhunted by the USA for some reason, not sure what for.

Ah Sad to see him go. How lovely for him though that it has meant so much to him. We all need pick me ups in our lives, celebs especially I would have thought, and to see how sincerely he has loved the show has been delightful to watch. I wish him all the best. He has certainly cheered my Autumn Saturday nights up.

I think Artem is deadly dull. There. I've said it. Give me Brendan any day.

Russell will go tonight.........They just giving Holly a turn in bottom 2 just like they did with Anita last week, and surprise, surprise Anita through 1st tonight........bet Holly with be 1st next week. Things must be desperate when Alex is joint top of leaderboard...sorry but she is not that good......In fact, the bunch this year are the worst to date.....Lets get back to the old strictly next year............

Fi, it's suppose to be a show about entertainment, that's what I pay my television fee for, not a fix.

He's been entertaining but it was time to go and let the dances get on with it. Perhaps that will be a wake up call for Holly to give it that bit more. Time for me to go to, see you next week when I hope my ears will have recovered from the echo.

Russell was a great sport and seems a true gent, but it was time to go.Will miss Flavia. I was glad Jason wasn't in the bottom two. Is it me or is there absolutely zero chemistry between Holly and Artem. Brendan seemed to get on really well with her. Artem is too brooding and intense. Anita's sweetness is beginning to grate with me too.

Neil, the entertainment is supposed to be focused on dancing, nothing else. If you went to football match and 15 minutes was taken up with clowns having a pie fight, I think you would be disappointed.

Can't say I'm impressed with Wembley as a venue, it was too big. All the 'extras' were nice, but we lost the dancers which is what the series is about - the space engulfed them. Very few were at their best there, with the exceptions of Alex, Chelsee and Harry. Please can we go back to Blackpool next year? And Holly's dress - urgh! Worst in all the Strictly's, ever!

Wembley was absolutely awful. The sound quality was so poor and the audience noise just drowned out everything else. No doubt it was amazing for the competitors but certainly not for the tv viewing public. Let's get back to the studio and normality.

Right result well done great British public. With regards wembley, how about Moira Ross, the shows producer, appearing on ITT, to answer the commentators on the blog who thought the Wembly show was diabolical?

I'm sure it was a great experience for the dancers and it probably raised good money for CIN but as a TV show, it was diabolical, for all the reasons already stated.

Come on Ms Ross answer your critics, and Zoe, please don't spend next week telling us how fantastic it all was - we won't believe you.

So glad Russell is out - very sweet guy, and he was so professional aknowledging Flavia - it leaves us with proper dancers of differing abilities. Who's next? Robbie and Anita?

Thought show 'tonight' as bad as yesterdays. Tess and Claudia had to continually shout to be heard over the tumult of the audience (could the audience hear anything themselves, do you think?) and it was the same hype.



Time to Say Goodnight was wonderful - more of this, please. We are not X-Factor watchers.

Totally agree with cat66 post 59 I look the other way when Anita gushes. The reason Holly was in the bottom 2 is that there are a lot of jealous woman who wouldn't vote for her if she scored Elevens from the judges, she is too attractive for their likings. So unless she comes in the top 2 she will always be in danger. At least the novelty act has eventually been kicked out. Too many good dancers have fallen because of him.

Strictly at Wembley - what a mistake. The live audience may have enjoyed it but Strictly is a television programme. It was difficult to see how well the contestants danced and with group dances you could not see the whole picture and who was doing what. Could we have ballroom dancing back in a ball room please ie Blackpool.



If Holly want to survive she needs to put something of herself into the dances and show her personality - not just go through the process of the dance.

88 IanNicholls: I am a season ticket holder at a premier league club and it is not any of the top four. If I leave the game and have been entertained and my team put effort in, but lost I will pay my money. To go there every home game and win, but see no entertainment and see the judges (referees) fix it, then I will not bother watching next season.

Yes it was time for Russell to go and leave the way clear for a battle between those are developing as dancers not just entertainers - but I am glad he got this far even though I watch for the dancing.



I do wish they would stop all the nonsense before the couples dance - seeing the couples "in training" is one thing, most of the other rubbish that has crept in is just annoying

Strictly's biggest show was, alas, their biggest flop.
