Last week's dance was genius. When Anton ripped open his shirt and wiggled towards Ann it was TV gold.



I have watched that dance many, many times and it makes me smile.

Anton remains the doyen of the male professionals, and the only one who could work successfully with Ann. I do mean successfully, because so far they have been hugely entertaining, unlike a number of potentially better dancers. I hope they stay with us for many weeks as SCD needs entertainers and personalities!

I'm going on holiday on Wednesday, so thank the Lord for this BBC Page where I can catch up when I get back in November. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Ann and Anton will still be entertaining us all.Ann is certainly one gutsy lady and Anton is the perfect partner for her, a perfect gent, with a sense of humour. It's wonderful to watch someone actually learning how to dance and not just to see someone learning routines. Ann & Anton give value for money and are thoroughly entertaining and seem to be having more fun than anyone else!

You are correct it is the Tango this week.I wrongly assumed that because they did ballroom last weekend they couldn't be doing the Tango this week and so that left them with the Charleston. Would have loved to see Ann doing the charleston and who knows that treat may yet be ours but it the training video tonight was anything to go by the tango looks good to.

In spite of the fact that Ann is not the best dancer in the competition, I have actually really enjoyed watching her! She has improved, and looking at her tango training, she also appears to have lost a bit of weight! I'd like to see a tango to rival John Seargent's famous paso doble!

Another good wind up this week, much better thought out than the shimmy behind the veil on last week's ITT.

Several bloggers have bitten that you are going to use the flying wire like the Ice Dancers do on the unmentionable opposition; but I have faith in your professionalism and ethical attitude towards SCD.

Knowing that Ann likes to put some spin on her performance and that the spin is the most dangerous flying manoeuvre to carry out, then I am sure that you would not get your implied routine past Health & Safety.

Ann, I have not voted for you yet, but you were on the short list for most improved last week because you took the DuBeke by the hands and got on with dancing.

Anton and Widdi, I so love your dancing. You are such fun and laughter that you bring to the audience. We love it simply because it is entertainment and seeing other dancers who strive to be perfect is a competition that is an aim of this programme, but we do need a break and enjoy seeing you enjoy yourselves. Anton seem to be having the time of his life dancing with Anne because it is so unconventional and full of the joys of life. Anne brings light and happiness to the Strictly no wonder everyone loves you. If you don't make it to the top five you should carry on just for the sake of entertainment alone.

Nice enough lass .(don't be fooled by the aged, wizzened and grizzled looks though -she's not that old that she should get the sympathy vote!).Can't dance very well. Tries VERY hard (like everyone else). I admit she's amusing but somehow she can't stop being a politician even on this Saturday night entertainment programme. Always has the first AND the last word. I KNOW......."it's only an entertainment show. It's not meant to be serious "!!



How long will she be in ? Wait for it. There are some very good dancers going to disappear at her expense in the coming weeks. The great British public will make sure of that. It's their inborn sense of fair play you see.

Its take off for "Starship Widdecombe"

Ann your arrival by wire on Saturday night was like the 1st Airborne Division landing at Arnhem and they lasted longer than expected as well.

Seriously though you looked terrified and I don't blame you as it must have taken some guts to make that entrance.

That is not to say that I totally approve of your entertaining use of the wire but it was innovative and I actually thought that CRH's reference to Fantasia could be turned into a compliment. If you have not watched it recently then hire a copy and do so, then you will see what I mean.

Anton, you are having more bright ideas than the Generals who planned D-Day, but I can assure you that when in hold Ann seems to follow you well.

The trouser suit was a good idea and there have been several suggestions about corsets which may help Miss Scarlett.

Ann and Anton are wonderful! Really entertaining. This world needs more morals like Ann's although this doesn't make her staid - she is clearly having fun! Anton is proving to be the true gentleman we all knew he was anyway.You can almost see the gentle guidance he gives Ann through the dance and whereas she was leading the first week, she looks to his direction now. What a gorgeous man. If only I were famous enough to dance with him. Keep going team A* - We need proper family entertainment such as this on Saturday nights.

It's not that I can't appreciate another persons point of view.What a boring place it would be if we all liked the same things.It's just that I like to visit this blog because I know I won't end up feeling I have to stand up for Ann and Anton cos we all agree on how great they are.

When I saw Anton and Ann had been paired up, I was quite annoyed because of the height difference, but it has turned out to be a match made in heaven as they seem to be very suited to each other in terms of personality.



Also, I think Ann's costumes and styling have improved in the last two weeks. The Spanish lady hair-style of the last two weeks looks well on her, and that trouser/top outfit was very snazzy. Just because you're not young and skinny, doesn't mean you can't look good.

Ann (or "A-Wid" to use her "gangsta" name) is running this series of Strictly. That winch routine was priceless. All it lacked was her landing on Craig...

I saw on IT2 tonight that Erin has now formed an alliance and will be supporting your cause; at this rate you will have more supporters than Temujin!

You have already won the competition according to the Yahoo SCD poll leading the field by 19% (70,066)of the vote (361,413 polled)being a clear 2% ahead of Kara Tointon with 17% (59,718). Obviously you are bringing joy and happiness to a lot of viewers.

Of course we all know the Benjamin Disraeli quotation about statistics, however Anton has a strong Fan Club too and with supporters like 'anton4ever' out there you may pull it off yet.

Whatever you do, don't weaken but keep your chin up and carry on improving your game whilst making more Strictly History.

I loved th eoutfit ann had on for her high wire act. At last the designers were making something attractive for her - not squashing her into old fashioned granny clothes.



It is great to see the fun element given equal weight with the dancing. I reckon Anton will have a pilished partner in the end as Ann is making such efforts to learn the dances.



Amd is it just me or were we all primed to believe that Ann would not be able to dance in the run up tp this year'sshow?

I can't believe I'm cheering for A2 (as a woman priest and labour member) but you are both wonderful! keep going.

Hi,we met Anton and Ann today at the dance studios they were rehearsing in. My daughter Cara was doing her modern and tap exams with her dance buddies. I would just like to say how lovely they were giving up their time to take photos and autographs with them, they both were very kind and friendly to everyone. Ann was very sweet and wished the children good luck. Please vote for Ann and Anton. Please also send on our thanks to them, they were truly fab!! Thank you.

The training this week looks fab! They've both worked so hard to produce a dance which is true to form ( and in practice looks so much better than JS's did!). Way to go - we'll be voting on Saturday night. It's so nice to see a couple really enjoying each other's company, and giving us such great entertainment each week. Ignore the critics Ann - we think you're great!

Ann and Anton are a real tonic. Their Paso Doble was a marvellous piece of entertainment and done me the world of good. I am very ill and in great deal of pain. I nearly fell off the sofa laughing. Keep it up you two.

Well I must say that I never expected to see Ann leaping like that - I was impressed. Not so certain about the very last move - or the dress - but I'm still loving their appearances.

I note that Ann Widdecombe's enthralled supporters expect nothing but simpering and heaped praise on Ann Widdecome's unsuccessful attempt at any suggestion of dancing. However, Strictly is either truly a dance competition or a comedy act? Most competitors obviously treat it very seriously as can be gauged by their attitude and I'm sure expect to progress biased on their ability, and would never say so, but don't expect to put the effort in only to have their place taken by someone who has absolutely no dancing ability whatsover.Those who mention others as being square who offer any slight suggestion of criticism are joking. Don't they realise Strictly, like the Generation Game, explains why the BBC is called Auntie!

I always felt that the point of striclty was to reward improvement and I feel that while Anne may never be a pro dancer she certainly has improved every week!!!Mean while others, while perhaps technically better as well as being fitter or younger or both have remained stagnant.



I don't believe Anne and Anton will, or should, win but there are few other obvious non winners who can go out before they do in my opinion.



I think Anne is a fantastic ambassidor of dancing as an activity for enjoyment, fitness and health. The physical change in her since the very first show is astounding!! she seems more flexible, more co-ordinated, more vibrant and, is it possible, she even seems taller!!!

Personally I have not voted for Ann & Anton yet, for although they show continous improvement, enthusiasm and choreographic innovation I have always preferred other routines to theirs.

However, like you I wish that other so called fans of SCD would wind their necks in and stop trying 'Bully Boy' tactics on Ann & Anton.

They are playing the game to their advantage in a sporting manner, Ann is enthusiastic and trying hard as usual to succeed. She is holding her own in the Schoolyard name calling competitions, usually scoring pre-emptive strikes on her detractors.

I may not be in sympathy with all of your sentiments but I admire your dedication and loyalty to Ann & Anton, keep up the good work.

When they first put Ann & Anton together I really felt sorry for Anton, but now I really look forward to watching them.

I do hope the Charleston goes down well. It's a dance of two equals so it's a good chance for Ann to dance with and not for Anton. Give him a run for his money! Most of all, enjoy it. It's seeing how much fun you have that makes all the effort that goes into dancing worthwhile. Good luck.

I saw the flash of training video on IT2 together with the layout for Ann's dress.

It is good to see that you are taking this competition more seriously, in a fun sort of way and I am glad that the outfits are becoming less Aunt Sally and more Hello Dolly.

I like visiting this site because the comments are more positive than just whingeing and after all SCD is supposed to be entertaining.

When I was at school (in the 1960s) we had a lady French Teacher and a gentleman English Teacher and their piece de résistance at the Christmas Dance was the Charleston. They were both single and Ancient (probably late Forties) and the lady was very well blessed. However their Charleston was always excellent and drew a standing ovation from the whole school, staff and pupils.

The point is that despite the odds, those two members of staff put their reputation for the rest of the year at risk and yet they earned the mutual respect of the school by effectively dancing an exciting and effusive routine.

Therefore, I trust that both of you go out there and do your best and do not mind the critics, most of those that shout loudest are probably too scared to have a go themselves.

I hope that you are given an earlier slot this week, (to prove to the conspiracy theorists that the BBC has not tried to fix the odds) and show what the Double A gang is capable of.

Whatever the result is I expect you to give it your best and come out fighting for survival in this wicked dance competition!!

Ann and Anton are bringing something rare to TV: PURE JOY! Of course I want Ann to go all the way to the top and win because she represents normal people who don't necessarily look good in spandex and sequins. Besides that, she is completely herself, which is both compelling, delightful, and in her case, funny.



I watched the first two episodes while visiting my mum in the UK and I'm still tracking Ann's progress now that I'm back home in the US. I hope she wins the mirror ball trophy!
