Whisper and hush

This is day of the return. Last week we were staggering back, drifting day by day to the coal face. Out of office replies declaring ‘Back on the 8th’ suggests that this is the Monday that sees everyone, at last, embracing the new year of work. Our Christmas is either back in the loft or out in the garden. Look at all this space! Look at all these needles!

First Book Club of 2018 sees ‘The Martian’ author Andy Weir return with another slice of sci-fi ‘Artemis’. The Martian was a self-published mega hit, was picked up by a big publisher, sold 5 million copies and was picked up by Ridley Scott and turned into a Matt Damon-led hit movie. So that’s quite a lot of pressure on Artemis! Here we are on the moon with Jazz, a porter, smuggler and newly-hired saboteur.
