Hi gang. Chocks away on another Divetime day.Just getting my act together as child 2 facetimes from theThai/Burma border. Of all the areas of life revolutionised by the internet, the ability to communicate in pictures, in real time and for free must be one of the greatest. All conversations are full of those non-verbal messages that you miss on the phone which is why they can weird so often. But when you can just prattle on about trivia and the news and nonsense as well as important stuff, it really does shrink the world. A wondrous invention. It was the longest pyjama-clad conversation we've had for a long time.
So today I'm off to Wimbledon to spoil some more school days. Crossing London may well take forever today so setting off in good time and will then spring to life like a demented rabbit. Thence to R2 and our guest Hugh Laurie. I haven't interviewed him since 1996 when he wrote The Gun Seller but his life has changed somewhat since then! The limping, misanthropic doctor Gregory House was the star of the biggest TV show in the world for a while and when the final episode was shown in 2012 he was the most watched leading man on television.. Now he has a new blues album 'Didn't It Rain' followed by a UK tour in June and he'll be with us from 6. And we should try HUGH LAURIE oldies I think. Eton, Fry/Laurie, acting, House, Cambridge footlights, Jeeves and Wooster should be enough to go on I think.
