So Thursday's show on the way with your team straining every sinew to make it a good one. Loved Hugh Laurie yesterday, a rare chance to talk with a true gent and he didn't disappoint-could have run it for another half hour with pleasure. While his song was playing I reminded him that our daughters are exactly the same age, born next door to each other in the same hospital. There followed a brief 'teenage daughters' chat and we were back to the Blues, House and being Hugh Laurie. Hopefully it won't be 16 years before we get to talk again.
Nigel's doing an Afghan Korma tonight with oranges and other things (official title) and we need some oldies. Well done to Amelia for the list of the day with all the artists laid bare. Astonishing work! We'll pin it up somewhere appropriate. Today I'm thinking RECORD SHOPS. We've been here before of course but the imminence of Record Store Day this Saturday. It's the 6th in the UK and still should end shudders through us older record buyers (yes I am one) that they need a day to remind everyone they are there. It's so difficult to find one in so many towns now that the temptation is always there to go online. So if you have one near you, tell us about it. If you have one from your youth, tell us about that. There was an A-Z Records in Worthing that took too much of my cash and the record shop at Warwick Uni would have taken too much of my grant. If I was a fiver up on the week, a new slice of vinyl (usually with a see-through plastic cover for extra protection) would find its way back to my room. You can't beat that browsing experience and level of expertise at the best shops so let's celebrate with some top record shop tunes.
Have a satisfying and tune-filled Thursday, se you after 5
