Sticks, rivers and bridges

'It’s not dark yet' sang Bob Dylan, ‘but it’s getting there’. As I write it seems that Noah’s flood is about to be unleashed and the lights are on everywhere. Classic summer holiday weather and the old waterproof may have to be stuffed into my satchel. Enjoyed the Tunesday yesterday, particularly the response to Jungleland. 40 years on from Born to Run’s release, overwhelmingly the response was enthusiastic-so many folk love that album. But then there are those that have been left behind, sad and bewildered by the Bruce-love that is everywhere. My thoughts are with you all. There was a time when I walked in darkness too but then I saw the light (indeed I was blinded by it, obvs) and now my life is fulfilled and whole. That Brucie bonus must be revived soon…

Phil Tufnell today, on the cusp of national treasure-dom surely? Former England cricketer, King of the Jungle, Question of Sport captain, TMS broadcaster and all round good egg. It’s memoir time again and Phil’s is called ‘Where Am I?’. Phil always brightens up a show-Tuffers on after 6.

And Poohsticks is your oldies subject! The perfect formula has been found to win at Poohsticks. Here it is

PP = A x ? x Cd.

A is the cross section area

? is density

Cd is drag coefficient

All of which seems to take the fun away of just chucking twigs in streams. So a few songs if you have them.
