An early start here, off to a thing. It's a BBC thing run by the big boss so attendance is a very good idea. Plus it's all about books and so I'm his man (well I think I am anyway). It would not be wise to preempt his announcement so I won't. The only thing I can say is there will be croissants. Probably with small packets of butter which will be ignored by most, along with the plastic cutlery. I shall smile and nod when appropriate...

Some proper twang on the show tonight with top notch Kacey Musgraves back on the show. A proper country artist who can high-five royalty is a star indeed. That's precisely what happened at the Royal Variety show when she met Prince Harry. She says she didn't know the rules and so high-fived rather than curtsy. And quite right! Her album is all about not being pageant material so a high-five seems quite in order. And looking at Prince Harry's expression, he was delighted. HIGH-FIVE oldies please! Yay! Wassup! How's tricks? Hey man! etc (repeat till tired).
