Well yesterday was a little on the long side (Doncaster then Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson, showtime, Annie Lennox, Sir Peter Blake and Jon Stewart) but today is a breeze. It is Folk Awards day and we are decamping to Cardiff. I have written before of the delights of this evening but suffice to say all we want to do on the programme is reflect just a little of the talent and the bonhomie which will be on display tonight. Some love their folk, others maybe remain to be convinced but it’s the quality of the musicianship that wins so many over in the end.
So today we hope to bring you Loudon Wainwright III, Billy Bragg, David Gray, Yusuf/Cat Stevens and Peggy Seeger. Plus a confession from one of the grand old stars of British Folk about one of the grand old stars of American Folk (I think. Subject to last minute alteration/editing).
And as we are in Cardiff Bay, we’ll take BAY and WATERFRONT songs to set the tone.
And hang around because we have a longer show and a half time gig as well.
Onwards!
