Reign on me

Wednesday greetings to you all, cloudy and gloomy here. The hint of warmth in the air is, I fear, man-made. Someone, somewhere has put the heating on and obviously it’s an outrage. Ridiculous. Just put another jumper on (and let me nearer that radiator).

Loved David Gilmour yesterday and that new track we played is quite something. He listened so intently in the studio. He was telling me that there is still magic knowing that everyone is hearing the same thing at the same time, what the late Roger Scott always called the biggest jukebox in the world. A Boat Lies Waiting was wonderful-so much history in one song. David’s assertion that friends of his have cried all the way through doesn’t surprise me at all.

More music history to discuss today with Chrissie Hynde. Her memoir is called Reckless which is an expertly chosen title. Small town American girl growing up with the 60s and The Beatles and rocknroll radio and ‘everything else that was on offer’ at the time. Hear Chrissie after 6

And obviously given that at 5.30 today Her Majesty The Queen becomes the UK’s longest reigning monarch it’ll be HAPPY AND GLORIOUS oldies from us all.

Blog comments will be available here in future. Find out more.
