A week that dawns without any internet. A crisis. I have no idea why this has happened but as every member of the household assumes I am the one to sort it out, the pressure is on. This email is being sent by wind and solar power and then will be delivered by stout posties on a horse and cart. Maybe you'll get it before the summer, maybe you won't. Here's hoping we are still talking about the same show. It's Monday by the way.

Hope a good weekend has been had by all.Another top Monday awaits with Mark Ellen our guest after 6. His memoir of his life in music journalism is great fun and a reminder of a lost world. NME, Sounds, Melody Maker and Record Mirror would fight for the attentions of the music fan week by week. The columns were scoured for tour news, interviews with bands and reviews of gigs , singles and albums. Mark wrote for pretty much all of them and has the stories to prove it. His time at Smash Hits in the 80s was very influential: the wit , the in-jokes and the photospreads were essential reading for any aspiring pop fan/star/dj/hairdresser. The book is called Rock Stars Stole My Life, so ROCK STARS please as our oldies theme and we can all misbehave after 6. Hold on to that hotel TV.
