Zippin’ Up My Boots

There was time when I was too young to like The Eagles. They were fine and everything but really The Jam were just SO much more exciting. Then came Hotel California and it’s final track The Last Resort which I heard on John Peel. Even though I was a scruffy student, anyone could hear that this was a work of genius. Then they disappeared for ages to do The Long Run (not so great), then they disappeared again, this time for 14 years. By now I had become aged enough to appreciate genius when I heard it (my brother in law had been telling me this since the days of Desperado. So he was right after all! Curses!). Glen Frey, Joe Walsh and Timothy B Schmidt have all been on the show but -until today- I’ve never spoken to Don Henley. We are putting that right! His new solo album is Cass County and sees him going back to his Texas roots. Class County is a small county in the north east of Texas and I doubt any of us have been there, stayed there or even knew it existed. Well it’s on the map now! Here Don talk about the new songs and a few of the old tonight from 6.

And whaddyathink of GOING BACK HOME for your tunes please (yes we have, but not for a long time). I’m not sure that Southgate North London is as evocative as Cass County but it’s been a while.
