Good morning from the car. The car that is taking me to Heathrow and then a plane to take me to Glasgow. It's Folk Awards day and so the team are upping sticks (upsticking?) to Scotland and what hopefully will be a top drivetime and evening of live music.
As I might have mentioned before (yawn) its one of my favourite evenings of the year and never anything other than a joyous musical education. Prepare for some dazzling musicianship and virtuosity! Once we've waltzed our way through the best of British folk, we find we have another 30 minutes to go! Drivetime extends to 7.30 and then come back for a 25 minute half time interval show.
This features the best of the Young Folk Award nominees who perform while the crowd get the first of what I suspect will be the first of many beers in. Last year everyone played 'who can keep up with the Dubliners' and lost. Spectacularly.
So let's see how many songs about TRADITION and ROOTS we manage to get away in a packed show. What do you fancy?
Have a well-mannered and pleasingly organised Wednesday, see you at 5
