The high road

Morning. It's 6am in my cardboard bed between my cardboard sheets. Not many hours of sleep were available here in Glasgow and a few bleary eyes will be on view on the way to R2 shortly. A fantastic time has been had at the Folk Awards here and I hope some of you were still around for the half time show. The young award nominees were a real highlight I thought and if you get the 3cd set of the 2013 Folk Awards there's a whole cd of the tracks the young folkies played. And boy are they good. The winners were Greg Russell and Ciaran Algar who thanked their headmaster for allowing them time off school!

We all then tripped off for one of the best curries of all time and toasted some good news from the listener counting people at Rajar. Drivetime has a record number of listeners hitting 6 million for the first time which is a very lovely thing. And thanks to all bloggers for being there day in day out and for being in the vanguard of the audience everyday. Always try not to make too much of the figures-they'll always go up and down-but it's worth a cheer sometimes. Help yourself to a biscuit.

Nige is cooking today of course-cake I think. And tunes please for THE LAST DAY OF THE TRANSFER WINDOW. This is a day of madness and frenetic shopping. Matt (v well behaved last night btw. Though I baled out first) will be all of a tizz. Football seems to have ignored the recession completely-SPEND SPEND SPEND seems to be their watchword. It's a crazy day. You know what to do.

Have a well organised and meticulous Thursday, see you after 5.

Blog comments will be available here in future. Find out more.
