I'm really not sure about fireworks. I mean I love them and all that but I'm not convinced I need to be able to buy them at a supermarket. Are bloggers buying their own? Big displays may well be worth it but my back garden shows leave a lot to be desired. Growing up I looked forward to November 5th with almost as much enthusiasm as December 25th. There was the odd 'penny for the guy' trundling around the streets. Has it lost out to Halloween? I don't know. Maybe there's a rural/urban split again-I don't think there are any bonfires around these parts-maybe I need to get out more.
But a great firework display done by folk who know what they're doing is a glorious thing. That 'big shooty one with sparks', the 'one that goes bang then bigger bang' and the 'one that fizzes and goes out and the adults say that cost twenty pounds' are all great fun. Some FIREWORK NIGHT oldies would be nice too
And don't miss Jim Kerr talking Simple Minds tonight. Their BIG MUSIC album is classic Simple Minds and full of, well, big music. And great tunes too.
5pm troopers!
