Chris just played Desiderata which won the Grammy for Best Spoken Word in 1971 and I loved it when I was younger! Then I thought it was cheesy and awful. Now I think it’s rather wonderful again. Who cares where the words came from in the first place? And then Baz Luhrmann’s Sunscreen which I think is Jo Whiley’s favourite; slightly more tongue in cheek but still very wise (don’t read beauty magazines, they will only make you feel ugly). No one makes records like this anymore (I think) so good to hear them again.
More Eurovision confessions tonight with Mel Giedroyc, Scott Mills’ co-host on TV for the semi-finals last night. Then it is Brian Cox (actor version) who is currently starring in The Game, a 6 part cold war drama on BBC2. Brian plays ‘Daddy’ the paranoid head of MI5 and appears to be having a blast. He often plays baddies such as in the first 2 Bourne films and the first Hannibal Lecktor, but who knows which way he’s going on this show? They all drink so much whisky maybe they don’t know either…
And as we are in peak EXAM SEASON we should do exam oldies. Whether yours is an exam-stressed house or not, everyone remembers that last minute revision, the stress of checking the timetable every 10 minutes and, horror of horrors, not turning the paper over. More questions on the other side? Who knew?
Tunes please!
Good luck everyone!
You may start now.
