Warm and Fuzzy

Simon Mayo

Presenter

A day in the house, no trains. Back with the early starts tomorrow but this is slackness here. Casual attire, unkempt, unwashed (this will be sorted by showtime obvs. Highest standards apply as ever) Slovenly is the right word I think (from the Dutch 'slof' meaning negligent and careless).

Richard Curtis today which is a lovely thing. What a man he is. A thousand projects on the go and making the world better as he goes. He'll have a number of matters to address- movies, comedy, Comic Relief, pop music etc plus a neat little book for children called It's Snow Day. It's illustrated by Rebecca Cobb, winner of the Waterstones Best Picture Book Prize. Yes it's that time of the autumn (record temperatures) when it is time to talk about Christmas product. On the snow day in question, only 2 people have turned up at school- a small boy called Danny and his least favourite teacher. Lovely set up, beautiful drawings and classic Curtis territory. It could end up terribly of course but you might guess there's a warm and fuzzy ending. Hooray!

And how about DRY oldies? It is the driest September on record-we've only had a fifth of what we would normally have. Northern Ireland is the driest, Scotland the wettest but even that is the second driest Scottish September ever. You get the picture. Dry songs if you have a moment...

5pm then.
