I left alone, my mind was blank

I don’t do lie ins. It’s probably still a breakfast show thing (after 24 years) but if I wake up, I get up. There’s always stuff to watch, read, research and write. The day is disappearing! Get up and get on with it!

And when there’s a Bruce Dickinson memoir to read and a Bruce Dickinson interview to prep, time is short. It’s a joyous romp through boarding school, discovering rocknroll, fencing, flying, fighting cancer, writing, radio and of course, fronting Iron Maiden. And some spandex on the way. There’s no score-settling (though his boarding school don’t come out of it well!), no tittle-tattle just a great read, warm-hearted and very funny. It seems his battle with throat cancer was the tone setter here and a determination to say that, despite everything, life is great.

So all things considered, some SONGS FOR BRUCE DICKINSON WHICH AREN’T IRON MAIDEN seem to be in order. There’s a lot to go on!
