Not in bed today, no malingering, no skiving. Striding purposefully into my healthy future, a breakfast of healthy vegetable roots and fruit shakes provides me all the smugness I could possibly want to get me though the day. I have emergency chocolate digestives ready to go, just in case. And (full disclosure) some American hard gums too. My teeth might be stuck together by showtime but I sure you'll understand.
Assuming you can hear me through the mumble, we'll have Julia McKenzie on the show tonight. We have been planning to have her on for Miss Marple and Gangsta Granny but now here she is with The Casual Vacancy, an adaptation of JK Rowling's novel. It's set in Pagford, a pleasant sleepy village which turns out to be not that pleasant. Or sleepy. Julia plays the social climbing Shirley, wife of parish council chair played by a sadly wand-free Michael Gambon. And VILLAGE LIFE oldies please, whether they be rural idyll classics or gritty Rowling-esque rebels.
5pm then troops
