This post finds its way to you through early morning torrential rain with a chance of mince pies later (though to be honest, yesterday’s sausage rolls will keep me going for a while).
Friday morning ‘dawns’ (eventually) with much to look forward to. Movies first with Rian Johnson, the writer and director of Star Wars: The Last Jedi. I hadn’t met him before and was somewhat disarmed by his request for a photograph as I sat down for the interview. Apparently he puts pictures of all his interviewees on Instagram! So we swapped photos and off we went. He’s a fine guest too and surprisingly nervous (he says) about fans reaction, despite the glowing reviews. Anyway his bosses are happy enough-they’ve handed him his own trilogy. So that’s him busy for awhile...
Elsewhere we can kick off this week’s ARF with some jolly tunes from 1982. If you can spare a moment! So this is when we got the lowest ever UK temperature of -27.2 at Braemar (got there again in Altnaharra, Sutherland in 1995), the Eurovision Song Contest is held in Harrogate and Countdown launches the new Channel 4. At the movies it’s Gandhi, BladeRunner and E.T. And your radio had a variety of big-haired pop stars singing some good ol’ tunes-which ones deserve a 5pm spin?
Here’s to a fine weekend.
