Zing went the strings of my heart (according to The Trammps and Judy Garland). And ping went the strings of my back on Sunday, as I helped to push an ambulance that had become stuck in mud on its way to tend to the sick and needy. I think that’s what I was doing although it might have been that I was picking up a Wellington boot. It’s one or the other. So no Elvis/Beatles for me but Mark G does charts better than most so that was probably an improvement anyway. I am typing here believing I can make it in today but who knows! If I set off now maybe I’ll be there in time.
And anyway, I always wanted to be in The Monkees. I had missed the birth of The Beatles but as an avid TV watcher of the late 60s (who will Batman be fighting this week? How can I get a Crackajack pencil?) I didn’t miss this. Loved all the singles and the zaniness. So Micky Dolenz and Peter Tork being on the show is a wonderful thing indeed (assuming I’m actually on it too).
And SEPTEMBER songs too. The greatest month is with us sole us serenade it in song...
