Top actor Rory Kinnear on today. Brilliant in Bond, The Imagination Game and Othello, he is back in a new series of Penny Dreadful on Sky Atlantic. This is the gothic horror/thriller series which brings together some of literature's most terrifying characters in Victorian London. And sees how they get on (not very well is the answer). Lots of slashing, horse riding, lightning and lying naked in water for long periods. Rory is The Creature, looking like Gary Numan gone crazy, and will be here from 6.
So I think as the Penny Dreadfuls were lurid and sensational periodicals, we should try SENSATION! AND SCANDAL! oldies just to set the tone.
