So having done the Edinburgh thing on Saturday (book festival, DT blog praetorian guard on the front row-thanks!) and having spent yesterday in sunny Suffolk, it's time to do another Edinburgh thing. Heading to the airport for Drivetime duties again and a hopefully a splendid 4 shows from the Europe's biggest arts festival. Or the world's biggest arts festival . Or something. But if you want guests, in August you find most of them there.

So autumn wardrobe packed and doubtless many things forgotten, your team is heading north. Today our house band is Deacon Blue, Alexei Sayle talks about his first Edinburgh show in 17 years, comedian and 6 Music man Shaun Keaveny has a confession and it's a book panel Monday. But there are so many writers in town that we are assembling 4 of them for your enjoyment: Ian Rankin, Maggie O'Farrell, Julia Donaldson and Gill Hornby. There's other stuff too but on shows like this, everything spreads and it is v easy to run out of time. Stuff drops off at the far end and folk get disappointed. We are doing our show after Richard Bacon on 5L and I'm not picking up his leftovers.

And oldies? Well who knows how many we'll get on but lets try THE THRILL OF THE CROWD/GETTING UP ON STAGE tunes and see what happens.

If you have tickets, see you there. Otherwise, have a snug and well-fitting Monday, see you after 5!
