I'm with the band
Were you watching the auditions for Big Bob's band and having a good old cringe like us? We asked Lizzie, one of the River City producers, to tell us about filming the audition scenes: 'Filming took on a rainy day in April and it was such fun - the auditions really lifted the crew's spirits!'
First up to sing for Bob was the goth girl - she had us reaching for the earplugs.
Lizzie explained: 'the actress had appeared previously in River City. She played an applicant for the hairdresser job at the salon which Robbie got'. In real life the actress is a burlesque performer called Lauren Lamarr.
Next up was Reynard, whose Girls Aloud interpretation was beyond the pale. As Lizzie told us: 'Reynard (whose name means fox) came straight out of the writer's head!'. Bob nearly lost his mind after this audition.
The one singer with talent was the Eurythmics-singing hippy chick. Her rendition of 'There must be an angel' was stunning. This talented lady is Sarah Beth Brown, whose band Born-by-Wires were recently featured in a Radio Scotland programme.
Hopefully Bob and Iona will make sweet music in future (at least that's what Bob has got planned, we reckon!).

At 14:40 8th Jul 2010, lesley wrote:This episode was hillarious and yes that first two singers had me cringing in my seat with my fingers in my ears.They were awful but so funny.I thought i recognised the first lassie as the one who applied for the hair dressers job.Thats the best thing about River city you never know what to expect and its really very comical a lot of the time.Its got everything in it and is so enjoyable to watch.My old neighbour of 96 looks so forward to it as its the highlight of her week.That guy who thought he was airchie he was chronic but again very comical.Poor Bob he was lost for words after that two singers.As i said before the happy hippy chick had a lovely voice and could certainly sing.I was chuffed when Iona decided to go along with partnering Bob that was so good of her.I can honestly see that two definately getting together.They make a really lovely couple and allways have a good laugh together.Good luck to them both its time they had something nice happen to them too as they also have gone through some bad times.Lets hope that they both realise they feel the same way and make a go of it.
