Shereen: Big Interview with Jimmy Wales
This Sunday is the eleventh anniversary of the website Wikipedia. As a journalist I use it more than I'd like to admit so I was delighted to get the chance to speak to its founder, Jimmy Wales. Where else would I go for my research but his own Wikipedia entry. It's massive. He claims not to have edited it himself as that goes against the site's ethos.
Rumour has it that other people keep changing his birth date. I was dying to catch him out with any other factual inaccuracies that might be on there. You'll have to listen to find out if I succeeded. He talks about his unconventional childhood in Alabama where he was educated by his mother, the real story behind his alleged fall out with his Wikipedia "co-founder", and why he's threatening to shut down the site.
Elsewhere on the show I imagine we might just be touching on the Independence Referendum, the biggest story of the week at the time of writing. But it's early days. Anything you think we should be talking about, let me know. See you Sunday.
