Tom's Top Tales: Things you can't help being pedantic about...

Do you recall from Robin Williamson's 'Dream Journeys' the opening line - 'There was no snow, only a throw of petals....'

On the other hand, from Frank Zappa's 'We're Only In It For the Money' album -'What's the Ugliest Part of Your Body ? - Some say your nose, some say your toes.....but I think it's your mind....' or is that a little too direct to be considered 'lyrical'?( and yes ,apart from a missed repetition I know that that is more than a single line in fact it's the whole ditty).

I am trying to avoid excessive pedantary, though being even more venerable than your self there seem frequent instances most days....The current bee in my bonnet is the increasing usage by even younger presenters of (mainly) Sport and now Weather saying 'That's YOUR Sport/Weather '....No it's not , that's the edited amount that they are passing on - There seems a somewhat condescending aspect to this phraseology. I really wish the BBC would discourage use of this - at best superfluous and at worst arrogant phrase.

I'll be back with further examples in the future.

You won't get rid of us picking radio presenters up on their all to frequent poor grammar etc with just a single programme.
