#JoyDivision6Music - help create a Joy Division inspired playlist

Kellie Redmond

With their debut album Unknown Pleasures celebrating its 35th birthday this month, we thought all of two seconds (maybe one) before deciding on a Joy Division themed playlist this week (22 June, 6-8pm).

Released on 15 June 2014, this trailblazing slice of post punk from Curtis, Sumner, Hook and Morris regularly features in the Greatest / Most Influential / Just Bloomin' Amazing Album lists of all time.

Music journo Jon Savage declared in the Melody Maker at the time that leaving "the twentieth century is difficult; most people prefer to go back and nostalgize, Oh boy. Joy Division at least set a course in the present with contrails for the future."

So with that in mind, what tracks deserve to be in our Joy Division themed playlist? You could pick:

* Classic tracks or rarities from the band or later incarnation New Order?

* Side projects or collaborations - such as Electronic, Monaco or The Chemical Brothers?

* Post punk peers - like Gang of Four, The Fall or Magazine?

* Bands they've influenced - from Franz Ferdinand to Interpol?

... or any other interesting connection you can wow us with.

In addition to using the hashtag #JoyDivision6Music on Twitter, song suggestions and comments are invited via the 6 Music and Now Playing Facebook pages, collaborative playlists on Spotify and Rdio, plus email and text.
