#6Music2014 – Help compile the ultimate 2014 playlist

Dan Cocker

Producer

The year might be almost over, but oh boy it’s been a musical doozy. A fine vintage, 2014 has given us a smorgasbord of brand new music, era-defining gig moments, break ups and comebacks.

But what has been YOUR musical highlight of the last twelve months?

We’ve been treated to remarkable new albums from the likes of The War on Drugs, St Vincent, First Aid Kit, Kate Tempest and many more.

Maybe you were in the mosh pit for Metallica at Glastonbury? Or was it Dolly who tickled your fancy? Perhaps you discovered a new band in a BBC Introducing tent somewhere, such as Royal Blood or Catfish & the Bottlemen?

Perhaps it was something you heard on this network that became the best musical moment of the year for you – 6 Music celebrates Libraries, Britpop, Sound of Style or another superb T-Shirt Day. Did you feel inspired by Iggy Pop’s John Peel Lecture? Or how did you enjoy our big live performances from Johnny Marr, Underworld, La Roux, Smashing Pumpkins, Carter USM, or the 6 Music Festival in Manchester?

Whether it was a particularly profound gig experience, a new favourite band, an album that blew you away, or simply your favourite track or artist of the year, let us know and help us compile the ultimate 2014 playlist.

We’ll also disclose the most blogged artist of 2014, exclusively revealed thanks to our friends at Hype Machine. Can last year’s winner Wolfe Alice make it two years in a row as the most written about artist on UK music blogs? Find out on Sunday!

You’re in control of the music so let us know what you want us to play – including the reasons WHY - to Jon Hillcock (sitting in for Tom Robinson) via the hashtag #6Music2014 to help create a playlist. Comment on the Now Playing Facebook page, here on the blog, email nowplaying@bbc.co.uk or drag tracks onto our Spotify and Rdio playlists.

And remember to listen into the Ultimate 2014 Playlist from 6pm on Sunday.
