Hey did you know its five years since Rage Against The Machine beat X Factor’s Joe McElderry to the 2009 Christmas number one? That also means its five years since the band performed ‘Killing In The Name’ live on 5 live. Oops! Potty mouth!
Not only do we doff our collective cap to the folks behind the Facebook campaign that got Rage to number one in the first place, but halfway through this Sunday’s Now Playing (6-8pm, 21 December) the official 2014 UK Christmas number one will be revealed by Radio 1.
So what better reasons to play an hour of really REALLY good festive tunes from some of the artists 6 Music fans will know and love?

Tom Robinson wants YOUR suggestions for brilliant alternative yuletide music. There’s loads of inspired festive songs out there, from the likes of The Fall, Orbital and Julian Casablancas, to Emmy The Great & Tim Wheeler, Bright Eyes, Tim Minchin and Lemmy.
And, just like Rage, the songs you choose don’t necessarily have to be Christmassy, as long as there’s a connection.
Tell Tom what you'd like to hear whilst you’re rocking around the Christmas tree, and if you’ve been good we might play it for you.
Get your alternate Christmas song-inspired suggestions – including the reasons WHY - to Tom Robinson via the hashtag #AltChristmas6Music to help create a playlist. Comment on the Now Playing Facebook page, here on the blog, email nowplaying@bbc.co.uk or drag tracks onto our Spotify and Rdio playlists.
