Following the sad news of soul legend Bobby Womack, pictured below playing last year's Glastonbury festival, passing away, we’re inviting you to put together a special playlist celebrating the man and his music this Sunday - June 29 - between 6-8pm.

Online tributes poured in after confirmation late on Friday evening of his death at the age of 70. Rolling Stone Ronnie Wood Tweeted "I'm so sad to hear about my friend Bobby Womack ~ the man who could make you cry when he sang has brought tears to my eyes with his passing.” Meanwhile Damon Alban posted: “I will see my brother in church.” Others with heart-felt messages ranged from Chuck D, Ronald Isley, Candi Staton and De La Soul to Tim Burgess, Drenge, and the Chili Peppers’ Flea.

As well as enjoying hits with classics such as 'Across 110th Street’ and ’That’s The Way I Feel About Cha’, Womack’s songs have been covered by some of greatest musicians of the 20th century - including giving The Rolling Stones’ their first UK Number One with ‘It’s All Over Now’. He was also a great session guitarist, working with everyone from Aretha Franklin and Ray Charles to Wilson Pickett and Dusty Springfield. More recently Womack worked with Gorillaz, with Damon Alban then co-producing his last album ’The Bravest Man in The Universe’, and he was reportedly working with Stevie Wonder, Snoop Dogg and Rod Stewart on new album, ‘The Best Is Yet To Come’.

So what tracks are befitting of a musical tribute to this true soul legend? You can pick:

* Any of his classic tracks or rarities

* Records he’s collaborated on as a singer or guitarist

* Covers of his songs by other artists

* Or any other musical connection that you think is deserving of a place on this special playlist

But do make sure you give us your reasons behind your selections for a better chance of making the playlist.

Let us know what you want us to play by commenting via the 6 Music and Now Playing Facebook pages, here on the blog, Tweet #BobbyWomack6Music, email us at [email protected] or add a track into our collaborative Spotify playlist.
