#6Music2016 - Help us predict a stonking 2016 playlist

Dan Cocker

Producer

A couple of weeks ago Now Playing celebrated the best music bits of 2015, and oh boy you did us proud. But on this week’s show (3 January 2016) we need YOU to tell us what you’re looking forward to over the next twelve months.

2015 is so last year. 2016 is the new kid on the block, and it’s desperate to bounce up and catch us square in the face like a violently coiled spring. Acts who ‘blew up’ last year included Slaves, Soak and Kwabs. But who’s going to do a Benjamin Clementine and enjoy success in 2016?

We need you to cast your musical net and help us create a playlist based on the hotly-tipped bands and artists you think will be making headlines this year. Did you sneak a peak at an amazing band in a dark corner of an obscure festival last year? Or perhaps you’re the kind of finger-on-the-pulse music fan who’s correctly predicted every BBC Sound Of artist since it began in 2003?

Who’s going to headline your favourite music festival this year? Who will make triumphant a comeback in 2016 just like Ride, Belle & Sebastian, New Order, Chemical Brothers and Smashing Pumpkins did last year?

We already know 2016 will herald new material from the likes of David Bowie, Villagers, Mystery Jets, Santigold, Suede, Bloc Party, Field Music, Underworld, and even Elton John. Will any of these artists feature on Sunday’s playlist? More importantly, will Radiohead finally get round to releasing their much anticipated ninth studio album?

You’re in control of the music so let us know what you want us to play – including the reasons WHY - to Tom Robinson via the hashtag #6Music2016 to help create a playlist. Comment on the Now Playing Facebook page, here on the blog, email nowplaying@bbc.co.uk or drag tracks onto our Spotify playlist.
