Whose poo?
Which animal did this come from and how do you know?
Answers below please!
Update 14 June: Well done to everyone who correctly identified the poo as coming from a fox. Bonus point if the reason you IDed it was its dark colour and twisted ends.

At 19:46 13th Jun 2011, RAY wrote:‘Bobbing Dippers’
I suggest this bobbing action is evolved behaviour. Dippers spend all their lives in and around water as a consequence visual difficulties associated with reflections and refraction must be ongoing. Viewing prospective prey from two different positions possibly enables the bird to resolve the difference between the preys ‘apparent position’ (due to refraction) and its exact position, thus increasing its catch rate. I don’t think the bird bobs when it walks underwater along the stream or river bed looking for food; where perceived position is the exact position, no refraction. The movement may also help to obviate dazzle under certain lighting conditions and constantly changing water states.
